Site-specific murals and hand-painted surfaces
Fernung Studio designs and paints custom murals for homes, businesses, hospitality spaces, and exterior walls.
Every project is created for its location. The design considers the architecture, scale, lighting, existing materials, and how the space is used.
Fernung Studio is the working practice of Indianapolis artist Eric Fernung. Eric personally directs and paints each commission, bringing in trusted assistance when the scale of a project requires it.
Interior Murals
Custom murals designed for residential and commercial interiors. Projects may include narrative scenes, landscapes, botanical subjects, trompe-l’œil, ornamental painting, wraparound compositions, and other site-specific artwork.

Each commission includes original design development, surface assessment, appropriate preparation, on-site painting, and a protective finish when the project requires one.
Exterior Murals
Custom murals for exterior residential, commercial, and public-facing walls. Every exterior project is designed around the building, viewing distance, wall condition, environmental exposure, and surrounding site. Paint and coating systems are selected for the specific surface and conditions.

Exterior projects may require additional coordination for wall preparation, equipment access, weather, permits, or installation scheduling.
Commercial and Hospitality Projects
Fernung Studio works with business owners, interior designers, architects, and project teams on murals and painted surfaces for restaurants, retail spaces, offices, and hospitality environments.
Commercial work can be developed in response to an interior concept, architectural setting, brand palette, or the identity of the business. The goal is original artwork that belongs to the space—not enlarged advertising or generic branded décor.
Project planning can include design review, coordination with other trades, proof of insurance, access requirements, and scheduling around business operations.
Decorative Finishes & Painted Surfaces
Hand-applied finishes for spaces that need depth, texture, age, or visual movement without a narrative mural.
Available treatments may include glazed finishes, painted patina, aged surfaces, limewash effects, faux materials, ornamental details, and other custom surface treatments.
These finishes can be used independently or combined with a mural to create a more complete interior environment.
Creative Consultation
Creative consultation is available for clients who want dedicated help defining a project before commissioning the artwork.
A 30–60-minute consultation can address:

Consultations are available by phone, video, or on-site when appropriate. If the project moves forward, the consultation fee is credited toward the commission.Investment
Most mural commissions fall between $5,000 and $30,000+.
Final pricing depends on the size and condition of the surface, design complexity, location, access, materials, preparation requirements, and installation schedule. Large exterior and commercial projects may exceed this range. Consultations and some smaller decorative-finish projects may fall below it.
After the project scope has been established, you will receive a written quote outlining the work, materials, schedule, payment terms, and included revisions.

Travel is considered for select residential, commercial, hospitality, and exterior commissions outside the state
